HMStocks Component simply gets the latest quote in a comma delineated format or as XML. This component simply gets the latest quote in a comma delineated format or as XML. It can also generate the image tags or URLs to display a 1 day, 5 day, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year, 3 year or 5 year chart. The charts also come in two sizes depending on which method you use. A key feature of this component is it's ability to retrieve multiple quotes with one call when using the GetRawQuote() method. This reduces the load on your server and Yahoo's. Also, this component only initializes the functions it needs from the wininet.dll library. There by saving costly overhead when making multiple calls to a remote server. VB Use: Though this component was designed mainly for use with ASP, it does have some use for desktop VB applications. Specifically, the GetRawQuote() method. However, you would need to keep in mind how often the application sends a call to Yahoo. If it is to frequent, there is a good chance Yahoo will ban your IP. This component retrieves the information from Yahoo.com. If Yahoo changes their format, it could render parts or all of this component useless. Requirements: · Microsoft Web Server (NT 4.0, 2000 Server) with administrative rights. · wininet.dll present on the machine (installed with IE 4.0 +).
